Organisational Cultural Analysis

Values orientation.

It is true that technical innovation will not happen successfully without technical competence. While getting the technical issues correct is a necessary condition for success, it is, unfortunately, not sufficient. Implementation is more than just "plugging it in". Successful innovation requires cultural and structural changes in the organization's social system and in individuals. There are two important aspects of values orientation:

· Core values -

There are a set of shared, core values revolving around participation, empowerment and shared responsibility for innovation (Collins & Porras, 1998; Claver et al., 1998; Higgins, 1995; Kotter & Heskett, 1992; Umiker, 1999).

· Focus on creativity -

Creativity is stimulated and the focus is on the quality of the idea, not the power and authority of the person proposing it (Claver et al., 1998; Higgins, 1995; Umiker, 1999).

Does this describe your organisation?
